Oil painted en plein air on a 9”x12” linen canvas mounted on a board.
This was a scene I came across in the town of San Gimignano, Tuscany. I had spent an hour walking the hilly town with my gear on a very hot day trying to find just the right scene to paint. I fell in love with the everyday setting of the towel hanging outside. I quickly setup and began painting, afraid that the towel would be removed at any moment. Instead, a van parked right in front of me and blocked my entire view. After a polite attempt to ask if the driver would move, he replied with a curt “No!”. So, I was done and had to finish the painting back at my apartment.
