BIO
Unlike many artists who were raised in a creative household, I had an upbringing that was not rich in the arts. Although I occasionally dabbled with drawing cartoon characters and superheroes, I was more focused on science and math where I was told that “serious careers” were built upon. I began my education by earning a BS in Mathematics from the United States Naval Academy and subsequently served in the U.S. Navy as a pilot. After leaving the service I enjoyed a career as a commercial airline pilot for a major airline. During these years the intrigue of art was always simmering under the surface which eventually led me to enroll in art classes at the community college and then to pursue an MFA in Painting and Drawing at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. This launched my second career as an oil painter. I love and am fascinated by the endless challenges of creating a compelling and well executed oil painting. If I can translate the beauty of the mundane onto the canvas, then I have succeeded.
