Mark began his formal education by earning a BS in Mathematics from the United States Naval Academy and subsequently served in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Aviator. After leaving the service he enjoyed a career as a commercial airline pilot for a major airline. Following his aviation career, Mark attended the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California where he earned an MFA in Painting and Drawing. Mark’s primary medium is oil, and his most recent focus has been painting artisanal interior spaces in his town of Sonoma, California. During his leisure time Mark enjoys hiking, cooking, gardening, and exploring nature with his partner and fellow painter Julianne Kirgis.
