BIO

Unlike many artists who have drawn and painted since childhood, my path began rooted in math and science. I began my career by earning a BS in Mathematics from the United States Naval Academy. I became a Naval Aviator and served seven years as a Pilot and Instructor Pilot. I then enjoyed a career as a commercial airline pilot for a major airline. However, the intrigue of art was always simmering under the surface but life and career seemed to get in the way. Eventually I decided to act on my artistic desires by first taking art classes at the community college and then pursuing my MFA in Painting at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. This launched my second career as an oil painter. I love and yes, often become frustrated with the process of oil painting. The challenges of creating a compelling and well executed oil painting are endless - that’s why I keep coming back. I enjoy translating the world around me and presenting it on canvas from my point of view. I hope you enjoy my work!
